Software Architecture

 Industrial scanner

The portable and industrial terminals operate in emulation mode or client/server mode.

EMULATION MODE

Radio terminals behave like standard terminals (IBM5250, VT100, HP2392, etc.)
Emulation uses the environment existing in the company (plug and play).
The user interface is controlled by the host. The users cannot continue work if the host is unavailable.

Both off-the-shelf emulations and dedicated emulations developed by TXcom are available for TXcom terminals :

- Off-the-shelf emulations: ZSTEM, REFLECTION, VT220, HP2392, PCTERM, etc.
- TXcom emulations: VT100, 5250, T.O.P.E.
A VT220 emulation is currently being developped in our Software Department.

CLIENT / SERVER MODE

The radio terminals are clients of the host.
Radio communications are optimized and response times improved, since only the data needed by the application are transmitted.
The client/server mode requires that radio terminals incorporate local processing capabilities, (unlike emulation).
Client/server mode can operate in degraded mode if the host is unavailable.
The radio terminal application can be developed in a language under DOS with which you are familiar:
- Languages : C, Basic, ..

T.O.P.E.

T.O.P.E. (Terminal Optimised Portable Emulation) developed by TXcom optimises response times.
The radio terminal applications are developed and maintained on the host in the programming language you normally use.
